WMS Nordic Doubles Capacity with New Plastic Shredder in Falkenberg
As the demand for sustainable recycling solutions increases, WMS Nordic continues to lead the way. In spring 2025, we installed a new industrial plastic shredder at our Falkenberg facility – a strategic investment that expands both our capacity and geographic reach.
With this addition, WMS Nordic will more than double its production of high-quality recycled plastic in 2025 – further strengthening our position as a key player in the circular economy.
Why shred hard plastics?
Shredding plastic before it enters the recycling stream offers several clear advantages:
1. Reduced volume = smarter logistics
Shredded plastic takes up less space, making transport and storage more efficient and cost-effective.
2. Better sorting and quality control
Smaller particles are easier to sort by type (e.g. PE, PP, ABS), leading to more accurate separation and cleaner recycled output.
3. Lower energy usage
Pre-shredded material consumes less energy in later recycling stages such as melting or extrusion – reducing environmental impact.
4. Optimized material flow
Uniform plastic granules flow more smoothly through recycling machinery, improving efficiency and reducing downtime.
5. Less contamination
Shredding can be combined with washing, removing dirt and foreign materials and resulting in a purer, more reliable end product.
